This week’s treasury features an array of toys for children. When I selected these, I specifically had children between ages 2 and 5 in mind, because that is the age group I work with at my new job as a preschool teacher! In early childhood education, learning through play is central, so for this treasury I was looking for toys that would be an amazing addition to the preschool classroom and that I would like to purchase for my own hypothetical future children.
My treasury may be a little heavy on play food, but look at how adorable it all is! The bowl of wooden strawberries and blueberries by HouseMountainNatural is dazzling, the felt popsicles by MouseandMoose are great for the summer, and the big set of foods by Tomomo Handmade is a great variety–look at the little tea bags! What treasures.
Then there is all of the gorgeous woodworking. The set of blocks by SmilingTreeToys has a rich variety of shapes and colors of wood. The nesting dolls puzzle by manzanitakids is just as rich. I love that the tool bench by asummerafternoon has working screws and washers. Just lovely. The train set by mikebtoys would be a big hit with all of the boys at the preschool.
A couple of finger puppet sets made my list, too. The Little Red Riding Hood felt finger puppets by CityCreations would fit perfectly into the reading area of the classroom, paired with the story. I also included a pattern for felt dinosaur finger puppets by Floral Blossom, because cute dinosaurs are cute.
In the realm of imaginative play, I chose the handmade historical costume by KellysCostumes because it is a costume I would have loved to play in as a child. There’s also a cloth treasure map by EnchantedDandelions, and cloth boy dolls by honeylimedesigns. For a bit of fine motor skills development while playing house, I love the beautiful wood sewing toy by WildernessSerenity. The Harry Potter wands by OrchardWorks are gorgeous, too. I may ge tone for myself!
Last but not least are the art supplies – a playdough toolkit by SmartbyDesign and a cloth crayon tote by Liv2BeMad. So fun!
